30 Days - Days 25-30

We are nearing the end of the 30 Days of Getting Your Art On challenge!

It ends tomorrow & I really can't believe October is going to be over with already!!

I know it's super cliche, but WHERE DID THE TIME GO?

Anyhoo.....

I've been doing a little artsy something every day but just haven't had the time to post the pics.

So here are days 25 - 30!!

This one is day 25 & 26. 

Yep, I spent 2 days on it. Not entire days of course, but I had to walk away then come back to make sure it was the way I wanted it. I am really happy with it!

I made it for my friend's daughters 4th Birthday. 

It was her 12x12 birthday card. lol.

Day 27

This day = layers....not sure where it's leading me just yet but it's definitely not done.

I used my brayer to lay paint down! I had never done that before. 

I had only used my brayer for rolling over washi tape or collage.

I REALLY enjoyed using it with the paint. super cool.

Oof, there was so much internal drama purchasing these darned things!

It was a whole thing. 

I got both of 'em for $35. Yay.

I am barely getting over the guilt of spending that much $ on myself, on art stuff.

I got the Inktense - pencils AND blocks. I've been playing with them all week!

I have so much in my head & I love to write, but when I get the pen in my hand...I freeze!

(I really do have commitment issues. It's a known fact.)

Amour - Day 21 & mini Art Hauls

My hubby is waiting for me to watch a movie. Yet, here I am.

I'm a wee OCD that I can't move on until I post today's 

Get Your Art On post.

Yeah.

So....

Today I got this lil bit at Michaels...

*a faber castell Big Brush in light cobalt - used my 40% coupon only after taking TWENTY minutes trying to pull up that darn coupon on my phone. I was NOT going to pay the full $5.99! lol

*Washi Tape - on sale for $2.99...a pack of 3!

On Friday I took Savannah (my 12 yo) to buy canvases (she has a birthday project she's working on)

well, since I was at Hobby Lobby ....may as well buy a lil something ....:)

*collage pauge

*a new glue stick. I'm amazed that I already went thru that last pack of glue sticks I bought a few weeks ago!

*copic marker. I'm buying them one or 2 at a time, using a coupon. 

NOW....you see that $6.99 written on the marker???? that is bugging the crap out of me! 

I can't get it off. Grr.

Getting My Art On ...on a Saturday night :)

hidden blessing. 

I journaled about our day => we went to church. celebrated my son's 10th bday. 

ate birthday cake, hung out at home, & he built his lego set that we got him.  

he was happy, so I was happy.

I pretty much know to expect that going to church helps me feel peaceful; it always does.

But, I never know what conversations I will have or what words I will hear...

Today I had a great convo with my aunt & it turned out to be a very big blessing to me. 

Thankful for that!

What I Love about Where I Live

Day 16

I live in Harlingen....deep south Texas....5 hours south of San Antonio...
a hop, skip & a jump away from Mexico.

1* We don't have traffic jams. Nope. If we are at a traffic stand still, it's because of an accident or the like, and it takes just a few minutes to detour.
2* We have SOUTH PADRE ISLAND as a backyard. Sun, surf, karaoke bars, Schlitterbahn...
 Sidebar: I'm not a fan of the heat/sun at all, but if I'm at the beach, I'm ok...
Besides, my all-time favorite time to go to SPI is in the fall.
3* Dallas Cowboys :)
4* I can pretty much wear flip flops most of the year.

30 Days - Day 13 + a Concert!

Today.

I woke up. 

I didn't go to church :\

I tweeted.

I ate. 

I played Legos & drew pictures with Kamden.

I went back to sleep, w Kamden (I adore napping with him!)

I woke up, again.

I took a shower.

I went to a concert!!

YAY!

The first 3 bands were locals. 

Then....Kerrie Roberts :)

my fave kerrie song....& yeah, she sang it! <3

Then....The Afters!

from Dallas. they (singer) gave a personal testimony of how this song came to life.

very touching.

Then...Sanctus Real!

super happy to see them LIVE! :)

So happy that we made an effort to drive down the street and go to this FREE concert.

Art Haul + Day 12

Happy Weekend! 

It's officially here & I'm pretty cool with that ;)

Today was a so-so day. Actually I take that back...it was pretty awful. 

I felt like crap most of the day & slept most of the day. This may sound normal until I mention that my 9 year old & 3 year old were watching Disney Jr & playing the Wii all day!
(9 year old had day off of homeschool)

Ugh, dealing with the guilt of leaving them to fend for themselves!

Moving on.

I got art hauls + getting my art on!

In my free time today,

(free time = drop the kids off with in-laws every Friday afternoon for a few hours)

 I went to Target and Hobby Lobby (surprise surprise)

Here's what I picked up OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER & LAUNDRY DETERGENT heehee...

Target had their craft tape on sale. 

I noticed that it is different than washi tape. It is more like paper tape. You can paint over it & it will take the paint more than washi would.

I also bought some bands, for holding notebooks closed ala smashbook from K&Co.

They didn't have this outfit paired together in the mag, it had a different top so I found another top/jacket & created an outfit that I would totally wear! Bag & all :)

Today's List It Tuesday is paying homage to things that we are suckers for....

(oh & this is also day 9 of get your art on!!)

1) Art & Office Supplies

It ranges from pens & markers to paint & journals to calculators & keyboard to stickers & ink pads, file folders & 3 ring binders. Ohhhh it's all so lovely!!!

2) Driving with no real purpose aka cruisin' ;) 

I've loved doing this since I was a wee tot! It has to be stemmed from my parents...being in the backseat of their Z28 sloshing from side to side as they drove around listening to Supertramp on the 8 track. (must be why I enjoy roller coasters too!)

#goodtimes indeed.

3) Nachos, Salads, -n- Buffalo Wings, Oh my!  

I could survive on these 3 things, no diggity, no doubt.

4) Perfect Lyrics. 

when someone can pen some meaningful, creative, interesting, unique, or quirky wordage, & put it to music...I'm in lala land!

5) Dolphins. 

Every since I can remember....high schoolish?....dolphins have been a part of who I am. Everyone knows it. The one on my belly was my first tattoo ever.

6) Football. 

Cowboy football is where my heart is. Yes, even when they play sucky. #truefan

That being said.....I'm a true sucker for watching my 9 yr old boy play the game. & I get annoyed when the Coach doesn't call the play I want lol. Yeah, I'm THAT Mom. BUT, I keep it to myself for fear of "humiliating" my son. He's warned me that he is fine. :D

used # stickers from my project life kit because I have so many 

& I don't plan on using all of them in my PL album.

I've been thinking about Austin Java Cafe all week. Wish I was there...

I found an old pic of it in my junk drawer that I've been hoarding, now I know why... ;)

that's a hot mess if I've ever seen one! & I <3 it :)

Be Fearless

When I got home from work today, I dived straight into my journal. Yay!

Here's the breakdown:

I glued some paper down,

painted over paper w Adirondack Acrylic - Pool

 glued some more paper

 pulled out the Americana Razzle Berry for finger painting

stenciled with ditto glimmer spray (turquoise & red)

dropped some drops of Adirondack alcohol ink - Citrus

stenciled more with black soot distress ink

Cut out "be fearless" from SELF mag as my "journaling"; outlined it with Oil Pastels - grey & pale blue

 and Hello Day 4 (Get Your Art On)!

Every time Adam and I are in Austin, we eat at Java Cafe.
We adore that place & we affectionately call it "ours"
Last time we were there, the singer for Much Love was playing his groovy tunes on the patio where we were eating. Afterwards, we met him & he gave us a CD.
We listened to it the rest of the day. #goodtimes

It's been a crazy morning. I was on a field trip with the kiddos, there was a sad child involved (my child) and it was all my fault (truly it was)...it was a whole thing. I THINK we are both over it now. :\

BUT....I did make some time for my current artsy challenges...after buying my sad child a Burger King Veggie Burger Combo in an attempt to make him feel better. ;)
